Join the UC-Wide Coastal Resilience Open Data Science Challenge
Calling all data scientists, coastal resilience researchers, and students!
The University of California Disaster Resilience Network has launched an Open Science Data Challenge on Coastal Resilience, sponsored by EY (Ernst & Young Global Limited). Nearly 75% of the world’s population lives within 50 kilometers of the ocean. While these coastal zones host critical ecosystems, infrastructure, and economic assets, they are also increasingly vulnerable to the dramatic effects of climate change.
Join the challenge and use satellite data and AI to build predictive models that will help vulnerable communities manage and recover from extreme climate events.
Any university student or early-career professional with less than two years of experience can join the challenge.
Bring your best game and you could win up to $10,000 in cash prizes and a trip to Athens, Greece in July 2024. Plus, your contributions have the potential to change the world!
