Instructional Support

Supporting Educators and Students

In a digital age where information is being created at an astronomical pace, it is nearly impossible for faculty to retain both the knowledge tied to their subject matter expertise and stay on top of the ever-evolving technical skills required to conduct the highest-level research through digital platforms in the most efficient and effective manner.

DataLab aims to help learning environments across UC Davis by partnering and collaborating with faculty to provide assistance with digital research and data science needs related to classroom instruction. Office hours consultations are free; other engagements require recharge.

DataLab can assist by:

  • helping you design and implement a research project pertinent to a syllabus
  • helping a class a research project throughout the duration of the course
  • serving as a guest lecturer to provide instruction on a specific tool, technology and/or data science topic to a class or research group
  • providing instructor training in computational pedagogy best practices
  • helping a department or instructor design a new computational and/or data-intensive course
  • developing and implementing a domain-customized data science curriculum
  • designing and analyzing educational performance measures and training effectiveness
