WINTER COURSE: Adventures in Data Science, Quarter 1
Winter quarter 2021 DataLab directors Carl Stahmer and Pamela Reynolds are hosting a Data science course right in here the DataLab! The first course in a two part series will offer a hands on introduction to data science for social science and humanities undergraduates.
This first course (Winter 2021) is classroom based where students will acquire core data science skills and knowledge to conduct data driven research using the R programming language. Part two (Spring 2021) will provide students the opportunity to apply those skills to active interdisciplinary research projects with guidance from graduate student mentors and staff data scientists. Students will be placed in teams to work for faculty Principal Investigators (“clients”) on real research data, learning how to do data science “in the wild.”
