Workshop: Introduction to GIS with QGIS
May 1, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
This workshop by Dr. Michele Tobias, GIS Data Curator at the UC Davis Library, will introduce the QGIS software for geospatial mapping and research.
At the end of this workshop learners should be able to:
* Identify different types of data (levels of measurement) and the implications for geospatial data visualization
* Identify different geometries and the implications for geospatial data visualization
* Apply best practices in geospatial data visualization to their own work
The last 30 minutes of this workshop are open for individual Q&A.
PREREQUISITES & TARGET AUDIENCE:
This workshop is aimed at researchers (students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, staff) who are working with spatial data. Bring a laptop with QGIS installed and running. No prior experience with QGIS is necessary.
