MaptimeDavis Workshop: Finding Historical Air Photos with UCSB’s FrameFinder

Description:

Historic air photos are an important record of historical conditions and can offer more detail than many satellite imagery from a similar time period.  In this workshop, Dawn Collings will present FrameFinder, the online interface from UCSB to find historic aerial photographs.

 

Learner objectives:

At the end of this workshop learners should be able to:

* search the FrameFinder database online

* understand how aerial photographs can be uniquely identified

 

Prerequisites:

This workshop has no prerequisites and is ideal for attendees of a wide range of experience.

 

About the Instructor:

Dawn Collings is the Map Assistant in the UC Davis Library’s Special Collections department.  Dawn manages the Library’s Map Collection, including the aerial photography collection. The Map Collection is open daily from 1:00-5:00 on the lower level of Shields Library.
