DESCRIPTION

Join Lauren Mabe for a workhop on cloud-based parallel computing!  The workshop will cover how to set up the parallel computing on a local computer and how to apply these skills to a cloud computing environment.  These skills are useful for speeding up Monte Carlo analysis on large spatial datasets that would otherwise take a long time.

After this workshop learners should be able to:
– Understand the advantages of cloud computing

– Be able to set up and run a process in a cloud computing environment

– Identify additional resources

PREREQUISITES & TARGET LEARNERS:

No previous experience is necessary.  Bring a laptop computer with R (and RStudio) installed.  You will also need the doParallel, sp, raster, and spData packages for R
