Pop-up: Hands-On Introduction to Amazon Web Services
January 29 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

REGISTRATION
Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
DESCRIPTION
This free 2 hour hands-on tutorial will introduce you to creating a computer “in the cloud” and logging into it, via Amazon Web Services. We’ll create a small general-purpose Linux computer, connect to it, and run a small job while discussing the concepts and technologies involved. Participants should plan to fill out a brief survey before and after the workshop.
PREREQUISITES
No prior experience with cloud computing is needed, although you should have some minimal experience with command-line computing (e.g., via bash). You don’t need an AWS account or a credit card to attend.
SPEAKER
This workshop is a pilot workshop offered by the UC Davis Lab for Data Intensive Biology as part of the NIH Common Fund Data Ecosystem training and engagement program.
