This workshop will provide a beginner’s overview of Esri’s desktop software, ArcGIS Pro, with a focus on gaining familiarity with the software environment to work with vector data.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to load and edit vector data into ArcPro, as well as be able to define relevant keywords necessary for learning more on their own.

Speaker: Naomi Kalman

Naomi Kalman is a GIS specialist with 20 years of experience analyzing, managing, and visualizing spatial data. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from UC Davis and a Master’s in Data Analytics from Western Governors University. A Davis resident and former UCD employee, she now owns her own company, Valley Spatial.

Location: Seminar Room (room 1025) in the UC Davis PSEL (Physical Sciences & Engineering Library). Zoom details will be emailed upon registration for people wishing to attend online.

Prerequisites:  Beginners are encouraged to attend this workshop. No prior experience with GIS software is needed, though attendees should be comfortable learning new computer applications, working with the basics of spreadsheets, and managing, organizing, and moving computer files on their operating system.

Software: Attendees should download and install ArcPro. UC Davis affiliates can learn more about accessing this software through the UC Davis Service Hub.  Download the workshop data from this Box Folder before the workshop to save time.
