The DataLab is looking for two new Graduate Student Researchers for Winter quarter 2022! Both positions will work closely with DataLab staff to promote academic and research excellence through quality programs, engaged researchers, and an innovative research and learning environment and to meet growing industry and academic need for graduates with data science skills.
Both positions have the possibility of extension beyond Winter 2022. Interested applicants from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted.
Experiential Learning GSR [Applications closed]
The UC Davis DataLab is seeking an Experiential Learning Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) to serve as the primary mentor for a group of undergraduate students from traditionally non-computational disciplines interested in acquiring basic data science skills and applying them to domain problems. This position includes supporting classroom instruction (hands-on lectures and labs, assessments, etc.), as well as active participation and leadership in interdisciplinary teams conducting real world, data-driven research. This position is for winter and spring 2022, with the possibility of extension. Duties from winter extend into spring and thus candidates must be committed to both quarters.
Digital Communications GSR
The UC Davis DataLab is seeking a Digital Communications Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) with an interest in Data Science to manage the lab’s digital communications, facilitating interdepartmental and community engagement. This opportunity is ideal for graduate students who are interested in understanding the broader social, cultural, and political ramifications of data driven science, and who are also interested in developing their technical fluency and skills as part of this exploration. While current graduate students from any department and program at UC Davis are eligible to apply, candidates must have strong writing skills as well as interest and ability to engage with data science.
Current/former GSR Jared here. If you can see this and are at all interested in applying: do it. This is a great place to work, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
